Why should I choose a fee-only advisor?

Fee-only planners are Registered Investment Advisors who have a ‘fiduciary responsibility to act in your best interest’. This approach removes any conflict of interest.

 

How do you get paid?

Fidalgo Financial is a fee-only financial planning firm. You are paying for time and expertise, so you are billed based on the time that we spend working with you or on your project. No product sales, no commissions.

 

I just have a few questions about my money. Can I work with you?

Yes! We are happy to sit down with you. Our hourly fee option was created for this kind of discussion.

 

Do I need a certain amount of money to work with you?

No, there are no minimums. Many of our clients have their investible money in a 401k or similar workplace savings program and not invested with us.

 

Who is your typical client?

Money comes in, money goes out. You automate your workplace savings and get on with your life. You think you are on track for meeting your financial goals and retirement...but aren’t for sure.  Fidalgo Financial works with clients who want to better understand their financial picture or need confirmation they are on the right track.

 

Why do I need a financial adviser?

A financial planner provides guidance for a part of your life - the financial part. Think of this like putting off visiting a doctor - in hindsight, getting in to see a doctor earlier would have created better outcomes. The same goes for financial planning. Having a professional help you understand your finances and create a plan to guide your financial decisions is a financial win!

Do I have to pay for the first meeting?

No. We will meet in person, by phone or virtually to discuss the scope of financial questions, project or plan that you are interested in and to determine if we will work well together.

 

Where will we meet?

Fidalgo Financial is based in Anacortes, WA. We are happy to meet you here in town, or in a virtual setting. Areas around Bellingham, Mt Vernon, Whidbey Island and Everett are also areas we have met clients.

 

What is the word ‘Fidalgo’ from?

Fidalgo Island is where our base in Anacortes is located. About 60 miles north of Seattle, it is a beautiful area of lakes, forests, beaches and harbors, and the jumping off point for the San Juan Islands.
